Navigation Engineer Intern: Summer 2025

Job Description:


VectorNav's GPS and inertial navigation technology enables customers worldwide to push the boundaries in their respective fields, from UAVs and walking robots to self-driving cars. Success in these areas requires dedicated, intelligent, and insightful engineers who can adapt, communicate effectively, and apply their expertise in navigation systems to real-world applications. Interns and co-op students will work directly with the customer engineering, system test, and product development teams to support various initiatives, including:

  • Validating the performance of new sensors and algorithms in hardware

  • Implementing and testing new techniques in a simulation environment

  • Emulating end-user applications to characterize performance and define best practices

  • Developing software tools to support customer and in-house testing

Requirements:

  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in progress in aerospace engineering or a related field

  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Coursework or experience with inertial navigation systems, GPS/GNSS technology, estimation algorithms (particularly Kalman filters), and/or modern control systems

  • Experience working with or troubleshooting hardware and electronics, particularly in robotics, UAVs, gimbal systems, or other applications common to VectorNav customers

  • Familiarity with MATLAB, C/C++, Python, or other programming languages
